Tire Pyrolysis to Oil: "Black Gold" in the Era of High Oil Prices

Since 2026, geopolitical conflicts have kept international crude oil prices persistently high. This has led the market to rediscover and dramatically amplify the economic viability and strategic value of pyrolysis oil produced from scrap tires. Driven by both the changing global energy landscape and the "dual-carbon" goals, rubber pyrolysis to oil—a technology that transforms "black pollution" into "black gold"—is encountering unprecedented development opportunities.

I. Catalyzed by High Oil Prices: Revaluing "Black Waste" as "Urban Mines"

For a long time, scrap tires were considered an environmental burden due to their difficulty in natural degradation and high processing costs. However, the maturation of pyrolysis technology has fundamentally changed their fate. This technology converts scrap tires into high-value products such as pyrolysis oil, carbon black, steel wire, and combustible gas, achieving a "waste-to-oil" process.

The escalation of tensions in the Middle East in early 2026 led to a surge in international oil prices, injecting powerful momentum into the scrap tire pyrolysis oil industry. When the cost of virgin crude oil is high, pyrolysis oil's value as an alternative energy source becomes increasingly apparent. Downstream chemical, refining, and industrial fuel companies saw a surge in demand for scrap tire feedstock, quickly driving up recycling prices.

This price increase, triggered by the energy crisis, has made the industry realize that scrap tires are no longer just an environmental burden but exploitable "urban mines." The annual output value of this recycling industry is poised to reach tens of billions of yuan.

II. Technological Core: Continuous Pyrolysis Systems Are Key to Industrialization

Despite promising market prospects, the journey from laboratory to large-scale industrialization for tire pyrolysis to oil has long been hindered by a global challenge: achieving stable industrial continuous operation. Authoritative research indicates that plagued by technical bottlenecks such as system coking, difficulties in dynamic sealing during feeding/discharge, and product polymerization, the actual production capacity of most equipment typically falls below design specifications. Batch-type or outdated "primitive oil refining" methods are not only inefficient but also pose serious safety and environmental risks.

Overcoming this challenge is the core measure of a pyrolysis equipment manufacturer's technical strength. In this field, Niutech has achieved a critical breakthrough through nearly 40 years of dedicated R&D. The company's independently developed "Key Technology and Equipment for Pyrolysis Resource Recovery of Organic Solid Waste" integrates eight core technologies, including thermal dispersion, gas-tight sealing, and anti-polymerization, successfully solving industry pain points. This technology achieves a pyrolysis rate exceeding 99%, ensuring thorough harmless treatment and efficient resource recovery. More importantly, Niutech equips its production lines with a "smart brain"—an advanced intelligent control system capable of real-time monitoring and adjustment of nearly 20,000 technical parameters — ensuring long-term, stable, and continuous operation at a scale of tens of thousands of tons. Awarded the National Science and Technology Progress Award, this technology fills a domestic gap and reaches internationally advanced standards, clearing obstacles for the large-scale application of tire pyrolysis to oil.

III. Niutech's Global Contribution: From Technology Export to Industrial Benchmark

Niutech's value lies not only in its technological breakthroughs but also in successfully bringing its mature and reliable continuous tire pyrolysis systems to global markets and establishing numerous replicable industrial benchmarks.

1. Obtaining Top International Certifications, Breaking Market Barriers: Its technology and integrated equipment have obtained seven major international certifications, including EU CE, German TÜV, ATEX explosion-proof, and ISCC International Sustainability and Carbon Certification. This signifies that its products fully meet or even exceed the strictest standards of developed countries in terms of safety, environmental protection, quality, and carbon reduction contributions, serving as a "passport" for its global expansion.

2. Building Benchmark Circular Economy Projects Domestically and Internationally: Domestically, it has innovatively practiced an "equipment + operation" dual-drive model. By taking a controlling stake in Hesheng GreenTech, it launched a comprehensive scrap tire utilization project with an annual processing capacity of 200,000 tons, upgrading from an equipment supplier to a comprehensive service provider and deeply participating in value creation across the entire industrial chain.

3. Achieving Continuous Breakthroughs in Overseas Markets, Gaining Trust from Top-Tier Clients: Niutech's globalization strategy has yielded significant results, with its equipment exported to dozens of countries and regions, including Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Brazil, and South Korea.

The significance of tire pyrolysis to oil extends far beyond economic benefits. This technology constructs a perfect circular economy closed loop: "from tires, back to tires." The resulting recycled oil can be used as industrial fuel, and the recycled carbon black can be reused in tire manufacturing. More importantly, it offers significant carbon reduction effects. This demonstrates how technological innovation can drive the transformation of "black pollution" into "black gold" while providing a viable alternative pathway for global energy security
