Continuous Pyrolysis Technology Guides the "Stunning Transformation" of Scrap Tires

In the wave of rapid economic development, automobiles have become indispensable vehicles for modern society. Behind the prosperity of the automotive industry, a serious environmental challenge has become increasingly prominent: an astonishing number of scrap tires. Composed of natural and synthetic rubber, carbon black, and various chemical additives, these complex products are notoriously difficult to degrade naturally, earning them the nickname "black pollution." Traditional disposal methods, such as landfilling or incineration, not only consume valuable land resources but also release harmful substances that contaminate soil, water, and air, posing fire hazards. However, technological advancements are fundamentally rewriting the fate of scrap tires, transforming waste into "urban mines" and "black gold" of immense value.

I. A Global Challenge: The Hard-to-Manage "Black Waste"

Tires are the foundation of automotive mobility, but their disposal at the end of their lifecycle constitutes a global environmental problem. According to statistics, in 2024, global scrap tire production exceeded 1 billion units, with a total weight of approximately 40 million tons. These tires take centuries to decompose under natural conditions, continuously releasing microplastics and harmful chemicals that pose long-term threats to ecosystems. Large-scale stockpiling not only carries the risk of spontaneous combustion but also generates carcinogens such as sulfur dioxide and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, as well as PM2.5 particles that exacerbate smog during incomplete combustion. Although many countries have legislated against indiscriminate dumping and landfilling, achieving safe, environmentally friendly, and efficient high-value recycling of scrap tires remains a global challenge.

II. The Solution: The "Stunning Transformation" Led by Pyrolysis Technology

In response to this challenge, the international community, under the framework of the Paris Agreement, has elevated scrap tire management to a strategic level for emission reduction and identified a core technological pathway: pyrolysis technology. This technology decomposes organic waste under oxygen-free or oxygen-deficient conditions, achieving waste reduction, harmless treatment, and resource recovery, while closing the industrial loop in tire recycling. Tire pyrolysis equipment can convert nearly 100% of scrap tires into high-value-added products: pyrolysis oil, recovered carbon black, steel wires, and combustible gas. A complete material cycle is thus established: pyrolysis oil has diverse applications as fuel oil or can be refined into gasoline/diesel; carbon black can be deeply processed to partially replace commercial carbon black in rubber, plastics, and other industries; steel wires are recycled for smelting; and non-condensable gas serves as system fuel for energy self-sufficiency. This marks a shift from a simple "destruction" approach to a value-creating "resource regeneration" model.

III. Technological Breakthrough: Niutech Solves Core Industrialization Challenges

Niutech’s independently developed large-scale intelligent continuous tire pyrolysis system achieves a pyrolysis rate of >99%, ensuring efficient and thoroughly harmless processing. Recognized with the National Science and Technology Progress Award, this achievement not only fills the gap in China’s advanced specialized equipment for organic solid waste treatment but also reaches international advanced standards, clearing the path for the large-scale, industrial application of pyrolysis technology.

Niutech’s intelligent pyrolysis equipment, through its advanced control system, monitors and adjusts nearly 20,000 technical parameters in real time, ensuring efficient, stable, and long-term continuous operation at a 10,000-ton processing scale. This ability to address challenges of "continuity, stability, and scalability" in production is precisely the tire recycling solution needed for upgrading the scrap tire resource recovery industry. Currently, Niutech’s technology and integrated equipment have obtained international authoritative certifications, including EU CE, German TÜV, ATEX explosion-proof, and ISCC International Sustainability and Carbon Certification. Its products have been exported to dozens of countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Brazil, and South Korea, establishing Niutech as a mature solution validated in developed markets. With technological breakthroughs and intelligent upgrades, China’s high-end environmental equipment is becoming a significant player in the global market, contributing "Chinese wisdom" to the global circular economy and carbon neutrality goals.
