The Green Transformation of Waste Tires: Pyrolysis Technology Turns "Black Pollution" into "Black Gold"

At a comprehensive waste tire recycling center in Brazil, discarded tires are undergoing a remarkable transformation. Through a series of non-hazardous and high-value treatment processes, each tire is converted into pyrolysis oil, recovered carbon black, steel wires, and combustible gas.

Once known as "black pollution," waste tires have now become veritable "black gold." This transformation stems from innovative breakthroughs in pyrolysis technology, enabling waste tire treatment to evolve from a "source of pollution" into a "valuable resource." This achievement is made possible by a waste tire pyrolysis production line from China, operating successfully in Brazil—not only generating substantial economic benefits but also resolving the "black pollution" caused by waste tires. The equipment is manufactured by Niutech, a high-tech enterprise based in China.

With the rapid development of the automotive industry, the global generation of waste tires is increasing annually. Waste tires are resistant to natural degradation and pose severe environmental risks if improperly handled. Historically, crude disposal methods have caused irreparable damage to ecosystems. Countries worldwide face similar challenges: the United States generates approximately 290 million waste tires each year, while developed regions like the EU and Japan primarily use tires as fuel in cement and power industries. However, this approach fails to achieve complete resource recovery, harmless treatment, or high-value utilization of waste tires.

Tire Recycling Innovation: How Pyrolysis Achieves "Total Utilization" of Waste Tires

Pyrolysis technology is regarded as the ultimate pathway for tire recycling and one of the most effective methods for waste tire treatment. Compared to traditional reclaimed rubber production or primitive oil refining, modern pyrolysis represents a qualitative leap forward.

Through high-temperature, oxygen-free, or oxygen-deficient environments, pyrolysis breaks down the high-molecular polymers in tires into low-molecular substances, yielding products such as oil, carbon black, steel wires, and combustible gas. For instance, Niutech’s self-developed large-scale industrial continuous waste tire pyrolysis production line can process tens of thousands of tons annually, achieving 100% utilization of waste tires and truly realizing "total utilization." Moreover, processing 10,000 tons of waste tires through pyrolysis reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 11,000 tons.

Pyrolysis Technology: Converting Waste Tires into Multiple High-Value Products

- Pyrolysis Oil: As a primary product, this oil serves as refinery feedstock for further processing into gasoline, diesel, and other fuels. From this perspective, the production line also functions as a waste-to-energy system. With advanced processing, pyrolysis oil can be refined into gasoline, diesel, and asphalt.

- Recovered Carbon Black (rCB): Another key product, after deep processing, rCB can be applied in tires, rubber industries, and used to manufacture products such as tires, conveyor belts, hoses, and seals.

- Steel Wires: The skeletal material of tires can be remelted and reused, enabling resource circularity.

- Combustible Gas: Can be recycled as fuel for the pyrolysis process, reducing external energy consumption.

Niutech: Global Industrial Applications

Niutech's self-operated project in Shandong, certified by ISCC, achieves high-value applications of pyrolysis products and establishes a complete industrial chain for waste tire recycling, positioning it to become the world's largest waste tire pyrolysis base.

Niutech's technology has been successfully applied in multiple countries and regions worldwide:

- In Germany, Niutech's industrial continuous pyrolysis line enables high-value recycling of recovered carbon black, transforming tires from an environmental burden into "urban minerals."

- In India, projects convert waste tires into high-value products like recycled oil, steel wires, and rCB, effectively addressing black pollution.

- Beyond BRICS nations, Niutech's continuous pyrolysis technology and integrated equipment have been deployed in dozens of countries, including the UK, Hungary, Denmark, and Estonia.

The prospects for pyrolysis technology are promising. As global emphasis on the circular economy and carbon neutrality grows, pyrolysis is poised to seize new opportunities in the field of waste tire comprehensive utilization.
